Backyards We've Transformed

Every project on this page was designed, drafted, and built by the same team. We don’t subcontract the work that matters, and we don’t build to a price point that forces shortcuts in the substructure. Here’s what one team produces.

Why One Team Matters

01

From Sketch To Walkthrough

Your architect, designer, and lead carpenter all work for us. When something needs to change on site, it gets resolved in the same building, not over a string of emails between three companies.

02

In-House Design

Our lead designer treats the outdoor space as an extension of the architecture, not a separate project. Deck board direction, railing profile, lighting placement, and color palette are specified to match the home’s existing materials and proportions. The deck reads as part of the house, not bolted onto it.

03

Permit-Ready Plans

Every project goes through full architectural drawings before we touch the lot. Footings, framing, ledger detail, flashing, structural connections, railing engineering, lot coverage, setback compliance. Built right means built once, and built where the township will actually approve it.

04

Expert Carpenters

The crew framing, decking, and railing your project works for us, on payroll, for years. They aren’t a different deck crew every week. They’ve built decks on barrier island homes through hurricane code cycles and know where the shortcuts hide.

05

Substructure Built For The Shore

The deck boards everyone sees are the easy part. The framing, hardware, fasteners, ledger flashing, and footings are where shore decks fail. We use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized hardware, hidden fastener systems where appropriate, full ledger flashing details, and footings sized to local frost depth and lot conditions. The reason our decks don’t have to be replaced in eight years is the part you can’t see.

"NJ Dream Builders did a phenomenal job on our deck! Michel and his team were friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They worked with my wife and I to create the perfect deck design for our backyard. Even adding a custom bar top area! The job was finished flawlessly and ahead of schedule. We could not be happier with NJ Dream Builders and look forward to working with them again on future projects. "

How We Transform Your Backyard

Custom Decks

Single-level, multi-level, tiered, and wraparound decks built from composite, IPE, mahogany, cedar, or premium pressure-treated stock. Hidden fastener systems, custom railing profiles, integrated lighting, and substructures engineered for shore loads.

Pergolas, Pavilions And Covered Structures

Custom-built cedar and mahogany pergolas. Full pavilions with full roofs, tongue-and-groove ceilings, and integrated fans and lighting. Sail shade structures for modern lots. Designed to match the home’s trim and proportions, not pulled from a catalog.

Outdoor Kitchens And Fire Features

Built-in grills, gas burners, side burners, refrigeration, custom stone counters, weatherproof cabinetry, gas fire pits, fireplaces, and integrated lighting. Designed and plumbed in coordination with the deck and patio so the layout reads as one space, not a collection of dropped-in features.

Where Our Team Works

We’re based in Ocean City and work throughout South Jersey’s shore and barrier island communities, if you don’t see your town listed, please give us a call as we service most of South Jersey!

Before You
Book

Get answers before you call, from price ranges to how our design consultations are typically handled!

From signed contract to final walkthrough, most custom decks run 4 to 6 weeks of design and architectural drafting, plus 2 to 6 weeks of permitting depending on the township, followed by 4 to 10 weeks of construction depending on scope. Full outdoor living spaces with kitchens, fire features, and covered structures run longer, typically 10 to 16 weeks of construction.
It depends on your priorities. Composite (Trex, TimberTech, and similar) is lower maintenance, holds color longer, and performs predictably on the shore. IPE and other tropical hardwoods are more expensive, age beautifully when maintained, and feel different underfoot. Cedar is mid-tier in cost, looks natural, and requires more upkeep than composite. We walk through the trade-offs in the design phase based on how you’ll use the deck, how much maintenance you want to do, and what fits the architecture of your home.
Almost always because the ledger flashing wasn’t done correctly. Water gets between the deck and the house, the framing rots from the inside out, and the deck boards on top look fine until the substructure fails. The shore makes it worse because of salt and wind-driven rain. Our builds use full ledger flashing details, stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized hardware, and substructures sized for shore conditions. It’s the part of the deck you don’t see, and it’s the reason ours last.
Yes. Our architect drafts permit-ready plans and we file with the township directly. We coordinate every inspection through footings, framing, and final. You don’t deal with the township. We do.
Our carpenters, designers, and architect are in-house. We use specialized subs for trades we don’t keep on staff full-time (HVAC, licensed plumbing, licensed electrical), but they’re long-term partners we’ve worked with for years, supervised by our lead carpenter on every project.
